I need to pick up the pace with blogging!

Well, I started this with good intentions and then......Yeah, life happens. Here in North Carolina, we've missed all week of school because of the lovely winter weather! I'm ready for SPRING! I'm posting tonight about a applique piece that I've been working on! I absolutely love it! This is a pattern by BJ Designs and Patterns called "Morning Flight".
I chose this pattern in 2012 during shop hop and never made it. I chose it because it reminds me of my moms family. My mom grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is were they have the annual hot air balloon festival. I can remember going when I was younger. I was mesmerized by all the balloons and colors! This wall hanging will be in memory of them.
This was the start. Cutting out all the little pieces and putting them together like a puzzle. I made this all in Batik fabrics.
This is after I got all of them cut out. I moved them around to see where I wanted them. I did a satin stitch all around them in grey.
This is them on the design board! I love it! I chose a inner grey (shadow play) boarder and a southwestern themed outer boarder.
